• Copyright is a creation right.

• The author (or creator) of an original work has rights to prevent others copying his work.

• Copyright can be found in any original material including artwork, photographs and text. Someone had to create or author it.

• Copyright arises simply by creation or authorship. You do not have to register copyright. You do not have to provide a copyright notice.

 
 
 

• The person who creates the material owns the copyright.

• As a BYP employee the copyright in any material created by you “on the job”, is owned by BYP.

• A creator such as a freelance graphic artist or photographer can transfer his copyright by signing a written agreement.

• A license to use copyright material is not ownership but only a right to use.

 
 
 

• The right to copy.

• The right to amend, modify, change or adapt.

• The right to distribute.

• The right to display.
