Continuing education opportunities are important for seniors and those wishing to work with seniors. The following organisations provide education opportunities for either seniors or for those who provide care for seniors.

Geriatric Aide Programme is a part-time course that prepares students for work as caregivers for the aged in an institutional, community or home care setting. As part of the programme, students are required to complete a training component in an approved geriatric care setting in Bermuda.

“Better Living Through Learning”
More than 700 members from all walks of life participate in over 30 stimulating courses, offered twice a year starting in September and January - always during the day. Seminars and outings are also offered during the year.

The Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs offers classes for Golden Agers, over 65, free when enrolment allows. There is a $50 charge for each computer class for tuition and possibly separate charges for materials.

Courses relating specifically to seniors:
• Caring for seniors in their own homes. This is a single seminar offered at no charge. Venue: Spice Valley, Warwick.
• Understanding the aging process. One 2- hour session, no charge.
• Computer keyboarding. Introduction for seniors - Learn the basic operations of word processing including entering, editing and formatting text using Microsoft Works/Microsoft Word.
