Serving Justice In Bermuda

Headquartered in Hamilton, all cases in Magistrates' Court are heard by a Magistrate and two lay members are chosen from a special panel, with the exception being for Family Court.

 

The Magistrates’ Court consists of Traffic Court, Drug Treatment Court, Family Court, and Plea Court. The Magistrates at Traffic Court sits twice weekly and cases related to any traffic offenses are heard. Drug Treatment Court is responsible for the rehabilitation of drug users and aims to increase the number of individuals accessing, engaging and benefitting from their treatment programs. Family Court oversees the collection of child support and spousal maintenance as per court orders. All domestic violence cases are also heard in the Family Court.

 

We are responsible for serving summonses and legal documents, enforcing money judgments and collection of payments for all of the courts.
