Tokens, passes and tickets can be used on both forms of public transit and can be purchased at the bus and ferry terminals in Hamilton, the Visitor Information Centre in Hamilton, sub post offices and in some hotels and guest houses.


Cash is accepted on buses (not on ferries) but only with exact change and we mean change. Bills are not accepted. Cash is also the most expensive form of payment with per ride price lower with tokens, passes and ticket books. See a current bus rate sheet below.


Bus Fares


All children under 5 ride free on all transport. Children between the ages 5 – 16 who reside in Bermuda and are in possession of a School Pass ride free. Children between the ages of 5 – 16 who reside outside of Bermuda pay Child fares. Adults pay a higher rates as shown below. Senior citizens who are Bermuda residents and hold a Special Person Pass (available at TCD) also ride free. Senior citizens who are not Bermuda residents pay Adult fares.

Tokens and ticket booklets are based on a 2-tier zone system. The first tier fare covers rides of 1-3 zones and the second tier fare covers rides of 4 -14 zones. You can use the map provided here to quickly calculate the route and fare of any given ride. Tokens are sold in any quantity while tickets are available in booklets of 15.

Bus Passes


One, two, three, four and seven day passes are available as are one month and 3 month. Passes are good for unlimited usage on both buses and ferries during the time specified which begins with the first day of usage. If you think your usage of the transit system will be frequent, passes are a convenient and economical option.

Bermuda Bus Service Routes


Bus Routes


The BPT bus system operates seven days a week with reduced service on Sundays and holidays. Bermuda bus routes are identified by number (1 – 11), with a few subsets thrown in for good measure. There are actually 4 distinct #8 routes.

Sightseeing Bus Charters

The Department of Public Transportation (DPT) also operates a sightseeing service for visitors. Groups of 20 or more may charter buses by contacting the Charter Supervisor at 441-292-6704.


In addition, there are charter bus companies that provide service for  groups – a popular option for both business and personal entertaining.
