Incorporated in 1974, the Bermuda Bar Association governs the legal profession on the island. It is responsible for the regulation and discipline of lawyers and other members of the legal profession. 

The Bermuda Bar Association's Bar Council is elected and governs both rules of conduct for members and admission to practice law in Bermuda. It handles complaints about members and represents the profession regarding legal matters. The council is elected annually.
