Description
Taking Care of Retired Bermudians

The Social Insurance Department caters to all Bermudians after retirement. We strive to ensure that everyone retires with financial stability.

The Social Insurance Department falls under the Ministry of Finance. It issues and maintains a unique social insurance number for every resident and monitors the compliance of employers and employees with the provisions of the Contributory Pensions Act 1970. We take care of the administration of the Government of Bermuda’s Contributory Pensions Funds and distribute disability benefits and widow and widower benefits. We are also responsible for distributing benefits to veterans of the First and Second World Wars.

All of our decisions are made by the governing legislation alongside policy decisions made by both the Department of Social Insurance and the Ministry of Finance.
