Established in 1969, the Bermuda Nursing Council is governed by the Nursing Act Legislation of the Government of Bermuda and is a regulatory body for advanced practice nurses and nurse associates.


A proud affiliate member of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, we are committed to protecting the health and safety of the public through regulation. The Bermuda Nursing Council consists of 9 members including the chief nursing officer, 3 general nurses, a nurse specialist, advanced practice nurse, a nursing associate a medical practitioner and a person who could assist the council in legal and ethical matters. The medical practitioner is appointed by the Ministry of Health. Our objective is to promote science and the art of nursing, maintain the high standards in the practice and advise the minister on matters relating to nursing.


 At the Bermuda Nursing Council, we aim to protect the health and well being of the public through the regulation of nursing practice and education in Bermuda.
