The Department for Sustainable Development promotes and facilitates long-term planning for sustainability in Bermuda. Through the SD Plan and SD Roundtable initiatives, this department encourages the balancing of economic, social and environmental objectives.

The Department for Sustainable Development produces an annual report of sustainability indicators and works towards generating awareness and encouraging compliance with the social, environmental, and economic policies. Core department functions include education and awareness campaigns, the SD Plan, compatible policy proposals, Sustainability Impact Assessments, government advising and more.

The department takes actions for safeguarding and enhancing the quality of life on the island for today’s generation, as well as generations to come.
