Appleby will give all its employees $100 gift cards to use for takeout meals, or in the restaurants when they open again. They have contacted Bermudian Restaurant Groups last week and asked them how they can purchase more than 100 gift cards without having to hand-deliver them given the need for social distancing. Philip Barnett, President of the Island Restaurant Group, which runs Barracuda Grill, Pickled Onion, Hog Penny, Brew and Frog & Onion, and his team, spoke to their POS provider and found a way to provide ‘virtual’ gift cards given the large quantity needed. Most restaurants have printed gift cards which can also be purchased. Appleby have a Global Pandemic Action Plan for all offices. This plan addresses the specific challenges of the current COVID-19 situation, with an emphasis on efficient remote working and the protection of all colleagues. All of their offices are following local government guidance, including travel guidance, in relation to COVID-19. Their team members are prompted to check the local government and WHO web links on a regular basis. Appleby business continuity protocols have been robustly tested and, with remote working already in place for some colleagues, there will be no interruption to client's services.
